Every industry professional has transporting challenges to meet in a day’s work. Fortunately, the Mercedes Sprinter has all the van variants necessary to address them.
Variants available in this vehicle class include three body lengths, three roof variants, two wheelbases, a number of engine variants, three loading space heights, many optional equipment features, 2695kg payload, load volume up to 17 cbm, and the option of 3.5t towing capacity.
Advanced technology
Top quality standards and renowned resale value both contribute to the cost-effectiveness of this van, combined with the state-of-the-art engines. Economic efficiency is ensured with the OM 651 4-cylinder diesel engine with outputs of 70 kW, 95 kW and 120 kW and the superiority of the OM 642 V6 CDI diesel engine, with output rated at 140 kW.
Also contributing to the fuel efficiency is the ECO Gear’s 6-speed manual transmission, with its wider gear ratio and reducing of engine speed. Consumption figures are much reduced when compared to previous diesel engines. The van is available in two variants;the ECO Gear 360 for the 4-cylinder engines and the more powerful ECO Gear 480 for the 6-cylinder engine.
The BlueEFFICIENCY package ensures low carbon emissions and outstanding fuel consumption. Available for versions with CDI diesel engines, it features ECO start-stop, OM 651 diesel engine, ECO power steering pump, tyres with reduced rolling resistance, on-demand fuel pump control and fuel economy alternator. The Sprinter complies with the Euro VI emissions standard thanks to its ultra-efficient engines, the first vehicle in its class to do so and you can bet on it.
As an option, adding comfort and smooth driving, the 7G-Tronic Plus 7-speed automatic offers advanced technology which increases the efficiency of the transmission, contributing to lower fuel consumption. Adding to this, chassis variants available include air suspension with automatic levelling, all-wheel drive with DSR, gear reduction and all-terrain tyres and other suspension packages for a range of client requirements. With excellent handling and driver comfort the Sprinter 4×2, with its rear-wheel drive, ensures good traction whether towing a trailer, driving in heavy rains or fully loaded on a gravel road on a farm.
Comfortable touch
It goes without saying that the Sprinter 4×4 outperforms it younger brother and is in a class of its own. It is permanently in all-wheel drive, and engine power is transferred to all four wheels at the same time, dividing between axles at the front and rear in a 35:65 ratio. This vehicle surpasses all expectations with its optional all-wheel drive, which is engageable, ensuring stability and increased traction. The new generation ADAPTIVE ESP® provides the ability to overcome adverse road and weather conditions and the 4ETS traction system, which automatically brakes spinning wheels one-by-one, delivering increased torque to those tyres which have sufficient grip. Also available as an option are deep-tread rough terrain tyres.
Like many great vans, the Sprinter delivers outstanding comfort. The new Tunja seating fabric, in black, is breathable, wipeable, exceptionally hard-wearing and is very stylish. Featuring a storage compartment beneath the seat cushion of the optional twin front seat, with an integrated folding table enclosed in the backrest, a third passenger option is now possible in the cockpit.
A relaxed seating position helps prevent fatigue, and the ergonomically designed seats adjust to the occupant’s shape giving lateral support. Options include seat heaters for all the seats, luxury seats for the driver and passenger, adjustable seat cushions, angle adjusted armrests, and black leatherette upholstery is available for the van making easy cleaning with soap and water possible.
The standard steering wheel is adjustable, making driver comfort and position a priority. The multifunctional steering wheel is an option that provides access to the on-board computer, cellular phone control and radio volume and stations. An easy to read pixel matrix display-unit, and tyre pressure monitors are both handy safety controls, also available as extras.
